Andy Warhol Documentary to be aired on PBS

2006.Sep.20. Wednesday - by chantal

Television channel PBS will broadcast the new Ric Burns epic documentary ANDY WARHOL tonight and tomorrow across its network of affiliates. This four hour feature, divided into 2 parts, was originally screened at New York City’s Film Forum for two weeks in early September. The film’s successful short run has led to the full public release of the feature.

Ric Burns‘ ANDY WARHOL is a portrait of one of the 20th century's most influential, controversial, and paradoxically mystifying artists. As a painter, filmmaker, author, and pop world personality, Warhol’s enigmatic, irreverent style embraced junkies and socialites, waifs and sirens, hustlers and movie stars alike. Narrated by Laurie Anderson and featuring interviews with Irving Blum, Bob Colacello, Donna DeSalvo, Stephen Koch, Jeff Koons, Paul Morrissey, George Plimpton, Ronald Tavel, and others, this film is a significant contribution to the study of the artist.

Daniel Vatsky, VJ for the debut Bi-Fold event featuring artist Paul Pope and musician Mark DeNardo, was involved in the technical production of the film. Mr. Vatsky, who created a unique, Pope-inspired visual performance to compliment Mr. DeNardo’s musical compositions, lent his expertise to the retelling of Warhol’s story. Some of Vatsky’s visuals can be viewed through Cool Hunting’s coverage of the Bi-Fold event, and addditional work can be seen at Mr. Vatsky’s personal domain, Skyvat.net.
