LVHRD Congratulates Fashion Designer Laurel Wells

2006.Oct.27. Friday - by lvhrd

In a stunning display of speed, style and foil, designer Laurel Wells narrowly defeated her opponent, Erin Isakov of Erin Snow, in LVHRD’s third annual Master-Disaster Fashion Duel. In a surprising divergence from the past Fashion Duel trends, this year’s designers were presented with 500 feet of aluminum foil to create their spur-of-the-moment masterpieces. Though accustomed to working with fabric and thread, the selected material didn’t prevent Ms. Wells and Ms. Isakov from constructing fabulous outfits within the event’s time constraints and theme: an evening gown for a presidential ball. To aid in the fun and creative process, LVHRD guests were required to bring their own rolls of aluminum foil, which they readily used to adorn themselves and accesorize all night long.

LVHRD would like to thank everyone involved in this event, including MC Chelsea Peretti, DJ Praveen Sharma, and our judges Kelley Culp (Market / Fashion News Editor of JANE Magazine), Elizabeth Sulcer (Fashion Editor of Blackbook), Randi Molovsky (freelance fashion consultant and writer), and Mayte Allende (Market Editor for WWD). We’d also like to acknowledge the highly talented assistants in the duel, Alison Kelly (Team Wells, of Project Runway fame) and Abby Lutz (Team Snow) A very special thanks goes out to Caravan, who hosted this year’s event in their storefront space on 2 Great Jones Street in Noho, New York City.

More photos from the event will be made available soon, with video footage and interviews with the designers available through the LVHRD VDO series.
