New Beatles Album Spreads A Whole Lotta Love Around

2006.Nov.22. Wednesday - by lvhrd

Coming off the Cirque Du Soleil run is the “new” Beatles album, Love. Acting as an extention to the group’s already steller catalogue, Love represents a sort of exclamation point to the band’s opalescent oeuvre with familiar songs blended with a new lemon twist.

Featuring some of the Beatles’ most beloved hits, George Martin, often referred to as the fifth Beatle, and his son, Giles, took the task of taking a wide range of Beatles tracks, throwing them into a blender, and hitting the mix button to create a surreal sensation that leaves a sweet taste on your tongue.

Solid songs like “Because” sound like an ethereal experience when heard acapella, and the airy track “Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite” sounds like a warning signal when it’s melded with the hard and heavy headbanger, “Helter Skelter”.

But as an IMMENSE Beatle fan, I obviously have a bias for the group and would probably love the album even if it was just Ringo Starr saying “Waffle Biscuits” over and over again on a loop, so maybe you shouldn’t listen to my thoughts. Also, I haven’t even heard the whole album yet, but only mere snippets of it on the internet. So here are some “unbiased” critiques of the album available for your kaleidoscope eyes.

Here’s one from FoxNews, another from Uncut, and yet another from Entertainment Weekly.

Enjoy!
