The architects have been confirmed! More than that, ladies and gentleman, they have signed an official duel contract. Killian O'Brien and Sarah Wayland-Smith of Balmori Associates will be going head to head with Sierra Bainbridge and Maura Rockcastle from Field Operations.

Through utilizing sustainable systems and understanding ecological principles, Balmori Associates understands what the positive effects of emerging technologies can do to begin the reversal of environmental degradation, thus providing inspiration for their method of attack during this year’s competition.

Reclaiming landfills and post-industrial landscapes for new public use is par for Field Operations, an urban design firm based in New York City. Whatever the challenge may be, their girls will approach the night’s brief with a smart and distinctive solution.

Taking place in an undisclosed location, as with every ARCHDL, both teams will have three rounds to sketch their designs, assemble their models, and present the completed construction to the LVHRD audience.
