See This Show-Jonathan Richman’s Rockin and Romance

2007.Jan.30. Tuesday - by lvhrd

February: the month for lovers. If you have a snuggle bear, it’s in your best interest to do sweet, nice, non-threatening things at least until Valentine’s. Why not get the month started on the right foot, by catching international ambassador of love Jonathan Richman at one (or all) of his four nightly shows at the Knitting Factory’s mainstage February 1-4th.

Beginning with the Modern Lovers in 1976, Jonathan has released 23 albums with his group and solo and has toured relentlessly most of the time, spreading his good vibes across the world with his suspiciously simple, honest, catchy love songs. Songs which are often downright goofy, but extremely personal in Richman’s connection to his audience.

Playing with drummer and long-time collaborator Tommy Larkin, this act has to
be seen to be believed. Even if you’re single, mopey and bitter, Jonathan’s music will melt the most frigid of hearts. And if you do bring your cuddle frog, bask in the glow of Richman’s beguiling unpretentiousness, and let him do all the romantic work for you.
