Rebecca Turbow in Rolling Stone

2007.Apr.9. Monday - by lvhrd

Rebecca Turbow designs clothes in mostly two colors: turquoise and white. You could say those are her favorite colors, but that would put a damper on the word favorite.

If you go to her studio in Williamsburg, home of her clothing line Safe, you will see that the magnificent obsession with turquoise and white extends beyond her clothes. Those two colors are a lifestyle; they are Rebecca’s brand.

Everything–the sewing machine, the mannequins, her delivery truck, umbrellas, the thread on the spools–turquoise and white. It is her consistent, dogmatic approach to fashion that makes Rebecca’s bi-chromatic designs unforgettable, and that is garnering her the attention she deserves.

Our eye has been on Rebecca since she competed in LVHRD’s FSHN DL II, cutting, ripping, sewing, and stapling to create high-speed couture villany. Most recently she’s been designing custom outfits for Kevin Barnes, lead singer for the new hotness, Of Montreal. He’s wearing one of one of her dashingly minimal suits in the latest issue of Rolling Stone and will step onto stage later this week with Conan O’Brien in another of Rebecca’s new designs.

And I’m pretty sure Kevin is friends with some other LVHRD members. Seems only talented, smart rock stars come out of Athens, GA.
