Face to Face

JR and Marco, the two artists behind Face to Face, say the aim of the project is to cut through the shroud of reciprocal anxiety and fear that surrounds the conflict in Israel. Each side sees the other as the aggressor; neither wishes to compromise.
JR and Marco hope that by posting portraits of Jews and Palestinians doing the same jobs they can encourage the two sides to empathize with each other, and the rest of the world to stop viewing the conflict through the eyes of news anchors.
The portraits are often goofy, restoring the sympathetic human kernel to faces hardened by disappointment, by endless war.
