DECADANCE

Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet

Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet will be performing the hugely popular work, DECADANCE, at their Chelsea performance space now through July 1st. We had the opportunity to see this piece on opening night, and can’t remember the last time we had so much fun at a dance performance.

Cedar Lake is a relatively young dance company, founded by Walmart heiress Nancy Walton Laurie and directed by Benoit-Swan Pouffer. They carved their New York rehearsal and performance space out of Annie Liebowitz’s old photography studios, consisting of two old carriage houses amongst the Chelsea Art Galleries. They continue to show new and creative works that bring in young and diverse audiences.

DECADANCE is a 90-minute compilation of selected works by Ohad Naharin of Batsheva Dance Company. Since we all know that LVHRD members love audience participation, you’ll be glad to know that at this performance you just might get your chance to jump on stage with the dancers and become a special part of the performance. How special, will be up to you.
