President Bush said in a speech yesterday at the US Naval War Academy that Israel is the model for victory in Iraq. (via talking points)

“In places like Israel, terrorists have taken innocent human life for years in suicide attacks,” Bush said. “The difference is that Israel is a functioning democracy and it’s not prevented from carrying out its responsibilities. And that’s a good indicator of success that we’re looking for in Iraq.”

Sometimes–actually quite often–we can't believe what we're hearing. Victory in Iraq will look like never-ending suicide warfare between religious fanatics. I already hear Ode to Joy.
