Diesel’s Global Warming Maps

2007.Jul.26. Thursday - by lvhrd

Earlier this year Diesel’s global warming campaign shot globetrotting models on changed landscapes. As part of the ongoing forensic look at the changing face of our earth, Diesel has come out with a book, The World’s Coolest Hotspots Guide, a fictitious or divinatory atlas that reveals what the earth will look like after the waters rise i.e. London is an island, Brasil resembles Venice.

When we did our sustainability forum, Bi-Fold III: GRN in April, it was with a look towards what we can do to prevent living in Waterworld by reducing our environmental footprint. The future in the Diesel ads is not inevitable. Groups like Campus Climate Challenge and Architecture 2030 are trying to get the word out now, specifically about the way electricity from coal is ravaging the air we breath.

UPDATE: Geoff at BLDBLOG is on a flood theme right now. His latest post examines what the world could like were the West Antarctic Ice Sheet to collapse. Theoretically, large portions of the world would be underwater in 100 years.

The study found that global warming since 1985 has been caused neither by an increase in solar radiation nor by a decrease in the flux of galactic cosmic rays. Some researchers had also suggested that the latter might influence global warming because the rays trigger cloud formation. I have found a blog which gave complete information about Global Warming.
