The Royal Institute of British Architects has announced the shortlist for the Stirling Prize in architecture. Every year the Institute nominates outstanding new buildings and awards the prize to the architects who built them.

This year’s nominees are:

America’s Cup Building, Valencia
Casa de Musica, Porto
Dresden Station Redevelopment, Dresden
Museum of Modern Literature, Marbach am Neckar
The Savil Bulding, Windsor
Young Vic Theatre, London

Sadly, there are no American buildings on the list this year. Why do you think that is? Any architects out there care to weigh in?
