War without end

2007.Aug.2. Thursday - by lvhrd

We were researching Steve Connors’ and Molly Bingham’s documentary, Meeting Resistance about the early Iraqi insurgency when we came across the picture of Bush.

Don’t know how, but we forgot about this photo. Then we looked at the date and–what!? 2003! This photo was taken in 2003! This picture is 4 years old. Bush did this thing on the aircraft carrier 4 years ago!

How is that possible? We feel sick. Does anyone honestly believe today the United States enters wars with the intention of ending them?

If I rememeber correctlly, this was part of his PR to get reelected. Just last week the Times ran a story about how the war in Iraq is closer to “victory” than it has been before. What. The. Hell. VICTORY? http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/30/opinion/30pollack.html

    From the article:

“Here is the most important thing Americans need to understand: We are finally getting somewhere in Iraq, at least in military terms…

“Today, morale is high (in Iraq)”

Further proof the NY Times is not what it used to be. Here’s an interesting fact from Harper’s this month:

Last year the US used 16 million barrels of oil to make plastic bottled water containers. Every day in Iraq US troops consume about 1.4 million liters of bottled water.

Too bad no one’s making any money off this war. Guess we better shut it down.
