Home Movie Day

2007.Aug.10. Friday - by lvhrd

Home Movie Day 2007 is happening this Saturday Aug. 11 to celebrate the film gauges of 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm in their most proletarian form.

The process is simple: enthusiasts bring their home movies by early to be cleaned and then hang out all day to see screenings of everything from first steps, to first rock concerts.

For the 5th anniversary of Home Movie Day screenings are in 63 cites in 10 countries with 12 screenings in Japan alone. That’s a lot of peace symbols!

Dallas, TX, however, has the honor of being Home Movie Day’s premier city this year. You can watch newly discovered footage of JFK’s fateful motorcade known as the George Jeffries film at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza.

In New York City the event is free at Anthology Film Archives, 32 Second Ave. at 2nd St. Open screening 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm.
