Galloping into beautiful forgetting
Tarsem’s The Fall came out in 2006, but no one saw it. Shot in 23 countries and featuring thousands of cast members, the lack of cohesive content may have scared away distributors.
Luckily, The Fall did not vanish into oblivion, but has returned on the backs of David Fincher, Spike Jonze and a MAGNIFICENT from Roger Ebert.
It tells the story of a cute little immigrant girl who breaks her arm and meets a funny American in the hospital. The American tells her a fantastic story in exchange for pilfered drugs using personalities from the hospital as the story’s protagonists: The Indian, The Explosives Expert, The Ex-Slave, Charles Darwin and the Masked Bandit all unite to battle the evil General Odious.
Everything moves or gallops slowly across biblical deserts, there are extraordinary costumes, spiraling, falling; masks, horror, beauty and an exploding pagoda…still looks like you’re trapped in a serial killer’s brain. But who cares? This is cinema. Beautiful moving pictures set to music. Sign us up.
