These dangerous internet times
2008.Mar.14. Friday - by lvhrdSometimes internet video makes us feel like humble tradespeople listening to Orson Welles read War of the Worlds on the radio.
Are 50 ft tripod aliens really climbing out of trenches upstate? Is Who Needs a Movie? really accidental genius or a cleverly crafted viral goose from Fatal Farm?
Maybe Sharon and Fred aren’t even real people, just a pair of Jim Henson’s straw puppets.
But we hope they are, and we hope Who Needs a Movie? is two Canadians’ honest attempt at digital entrepreneurship. If it is real, Fred and Sharon are going to be local celebs up in British Columbia.
“Oh, Sharon, we heard your new video got 2 million clicks on the Youtubes. That’s what they say, isn’t it? The clicks.”
“Yah, Barb, sure is. About 2.1 million now. Fred says we should start charging on our website. $1 a view he says it should be.”
“Well, sure now, that’s the smart ticket.”
