Radiohead Animated Video Call For Entries
2008.Mar.17. Monday - by lvhrdRadiohead, Europe’s Wilco, has put out a call for all aspiring animators - even those capable of basic storyboarding - to get to work on animating one of the tracks from In Rainbows.
Working with Aniboom, an animation sharing / networking site, and Adult Swim, you and me have until April 27th to submit our boards or clips. From there, Radiohead will select 10 finalists to receive 1K to create a one minute proof-of-concept for their video.
Those ten, sixty second clips will then get voted on by the general public, with 10K going to the fan favorite to produce a complete music video. Aniboom is the place to submit your work.
Radiohead loves a nice, brooding video. I’ve gathered up some of my favorites here to get your mind spinning.
Magnus Carlsson’s Paranoid Android. The main character - Robin - was later adopted in several short MTV spots.
Shynola’s beautiful Pyramid Song in which a humanoid dives to the ruins of sunken city, sits in front of a television, and disconnects its lifeline.
Grant Gee fills Thom up with water. They played the track at double-speed while recording the video to give the illusion that Thom was submerged for an impossible duration.

I love Radiohead, but they either hit it right on the head or totally blow it with their videos. The Paranoid Android video is absolutely awful. Looks like it crawled out of an 8th grader’s notebook. Pyramid Song and No Surprises are on point.
