ADC Gala: Pope & Harrington do things with music you wouldn’t understand
2008.May.2. Friday - by lvhrdAt last night’s ADC Award’s Gala Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav took turns blowing our minds with his playlist and regaling us with stories of how unglamorous life as a rockstar can be:
“People think it’s all glamour, some glitz. Well, it’s not. One time in Dallas we were ironing our pants in the dressing room and I guess I left the iron on because it got fried and the owner of the venue was like, YOU GUYS OWE me $70 FOR A NEW IRON. So there we were, after playing a great show, up in the sound booth surfing Target.com for irons, because we knew there was no way that iron cost $70. We ended up giving him $25 and calling it a night”
Those were not Tim’s actual words (it probably didn’t happen in Dallas), but the gist is right.
Earlier in the week we had Paul Pope over and gave him some DJ lessons because he was a bit nervous about spinning at the Gala. Not that we could really teach Pope anything: his choice in music was so otherworldly we just sat back and let him drive us to Saturn’s inner ring, which, instead of space boulders, is populated with tiny purple flashing Yahoo ice cubes and ADC gold cubes.
Other celebrity DJs included Jakob Trollbäck and Jeff Staple.

First Harrington blew minds with his big house versions of 90’s classics, and then Pope melted faces with his post apocalyptic psychedelic soundtrack to a film you wish you could put in the DVD player when you were hanging out with that hot girl from your art class in your parents basement.
