Somebody obviously had a case of the Mondays and decided to share. And it’s time somebody came up with a proper solution. Until then, what’s the perfect remedy?
Patriotic cocktails.
Our personal favorite over here today is the Apple Pie Shot: shake 1 oz. apple schnapps liqueur and 1/2 oz. hazelnut liqueur over ice then strain into a shot glass. Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon and a dot…

So asks Kickball Katy of Vivian Girls after her band’s recent close-up on impose.tv is derailed by asides about Dungeons & Dragons and teaching physics — the two unrelated. But the thing is, none of this is digression. Not so much as a frame of this should be erased.
The videos at Impose Magazine’s snazzy new .tv domain catch the performers as they are: sometimes with instruments in their hands, but just as often hanging out, talking about how their band’s name doesn’t actually have all that much to do with French…

Lil Wayne, as you may all know, has started picking up a guitar to pluck out some indiscriminate chords on stage at almost all of his live shows. Now, since Lil Wayne is a Martian it makes a little bit of sense that his ears have trouble picking up real notes, something Kanye has been having a little bit of trouble with too as of late.
Kanye’s new single Love Lockdown is certainly Auto-Tune’d out, but not quite enough to cover up the fact that his formerly locked-down jaws absolutely cannot produce beautiful music…

This morning, I reached a crossroads. Perhaps “in life,” but mostly literally: the intersection of Broome and Lafayette. Much like attempting to straddle the horses of love and lust, crossing that one-way street with the Do Not Walk sign glaring at me like HAL is a tricky, potentially disastrous undertaking. However, while looking north, I found the lull in the oncoming traffic I’d been hoping for. And oh, how I seized that opportunity.
But then IT happened. Just as I was beginning to wade through Lafayette (dang, it rained!) with my…

People are all freaked out like you wouldn’t BELIEVE about this third manned mission China’s sending into outer space!
It all went down yesterday or maybe tomorrow. (I don’t really know, isn’t China 36 hours east of Eden, what with the time zones and all? Plus, there’s daylight savings time to consider.) Or rather, it all went up: atop a Long March 2F rocket, the Shenzhou 7 blasted off and in an upward direction toward space and then into space with a three-person crew.
According to Liu Guoning, a researcher with the…

Not satiated by their ARCHDL IV booty of mini bagels, quiche and coffee cake, the boys at konyk have set their sights on the White House. David Iseri of ARCHDL IV fame and his band of merry friends, Jefferson Frost, Laura Sperry and Justin Kruse placed second in the Storefront for Architecture’s Whitehouse Redux call for ideas, which asked entrants to re-imagine the White House for the political context of 2008.
When asked to describe his project in ten words David stated ” uh, twelve utopian/distopian futures of the whitehouse,…

That’s right… we’re throwing our 5th annual timed fashion competition this October in Manhattan. Two designers enter a ring of fire to fight off a minotaur while designing couture on the fly. The losing designer will be thrown into a spike pit filled with snakes while LVHRD members pour boiling oil into the pit. This is all assuming we can get the permits.
Well… that’s about all the details we can give out right now pending permit approval. So we made these totally awesome promotional videos to keep you interested while…

In 1947, designs for the Farnsworth House were included in an exhibit of Mies van der Rohe’s work at the MoMA. The house was completed in 1951. In 1949, Philip Johnson, “inspired” by the design for the Farnsworth House, designed and built his famous Glass House in New Canaan, CT. How did the architecture community feel about this blatant copy? Lil’ Wayne puts it best: “And that was called recycling…? Some say its biting? but I say its enlightening” Today, visiting both houses is on every respectable architects “bucket list”. Here’s how you can…
