Because that’s where the high caliber bananas inducer pictured originated. La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela, the artists behind the Dream House Sound and Light Exhibition, call their work “a time installation measured by a setting of continuous frequencies in sound and light.” Wait, what? The visual side = light projected through color filters onto mobiles so they appear to float while their shadows seem to become solid. (Whoa.) And the aural side = a radical, math-intensive drone that brings the environment to the point of transcendence. (Double whoa.)
This is actually the sixteenth season Dream House has been around. If you’re hankerin’ for some moving, all-enveloping art, stop by this spot on Church anytime between 2 p.m. and 12 a.m. any Thursday, Friday or Saturday from now ’til next June.
