Sneeze Magazine, bigger is better, less is more, chess is back

Walking down the street the other day eating street-halal, we noticed the following box on the corner of Lafayette and Prince.

Who is that sexy lady? God Damn that’s a big image, that can’t be the cover of the magazine can it? Do I have $2 in change?

Those were the three questions that popped into my head as soon as I saw it. The answers: who cares, it is, and no.

Two days later however, I did have $2 in change and I bought one. It is awesome. It…

A IS FOR ARMY MEN, ART AND ACIDIC

Alright, it’s tough to ignore the big time allusion to modern warfare here. But looking just at the tongue-in-cheek mangling of toys, which letters in the this alphabet are your faves?

We’re particularly fond of groundhoggin’ V, Rose McGowan-esque F and the breakdancers of W.

These soldiers were professionally repurposed by artist Oliver Munday, who’s done a ton of graphic design, including some very spiffy illustrations for the New York Times. As his site’ll show ya, his portfolio’s all sorts of rad.

And some major kudos to Command Save, where we first…

CHASE doesn’t mind if you go bankrupt

LVHRD’s offices are close in the heart of Soho, and there are an increasing number of Chase banks in the area.  I personally spend the occasional 10 minutes or so in line a few times a week.  Behind the tellers, CHASE recently installed three synchronized hi-def screens that are generally filled with bubbly marketing messages pushing the latest product or service offering.

Just recently they were marketing their mobile alert service, which allows customers to text their account number to a short code and receive an instant balance on your account.  The…

Mojo HD’s The Circuit

The Circuit is MOJO HD’s first original Web Series. An informative, entertaining, sometimes twisted look at the latest in tech news with host and honorary LVHRD member Deepak Anannthapadmanabha. It’s like the cool parts of Rocketboom made it with G4 while the Daily Show caught it all on tape.

Episode 9 this week includes Deepak tossing balls with Howard TV’s Bowling Beautys.

Full uncut episodes premiere every Tuesday at noon at thecircuit.mojohd.com, or catch them on youTube.

Documenting The Designers Of Tomorrow

Disclaimer: I am not a designer and I don’t know a whole lot about design… but I happened to stumble upon something I think is awesome.

RISD is offering a free download of the Process Document documenting their students’ work in RISD’s Spring 2008 Visiting Designers Workshop, and, regardless of my complete lack of design sensibilities, I find it incredibly interesting to watch as the students work through projects handed down to them by Project Projects, Paul Sahre and Daniel Van der Velden.

Take a second to check it out. I…

Word on the Street : Hillary supports Obama

Today on my way to work, I passed our old office, which is now a hole in the ground.  While I was walking up to it, I saw Hillary Clinton.  From afar it was hard to tell what was on her hat, was it a moon or a space station?  It was an Obama Logo.  Upon looking at the wonderful wheat-paste, I couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing the official merch, she must have bought it in china town.

Finally, Robots making fashion.

Today we found an interesting intersection between FASHION + TECHNOLOGY.  A bunch of Ruby on Rails developers are developing shirts based on the code that they work in all day.  The company is called THOUGHT BOT, they make websites for a wide range of companies.  But on the side, and sometimes at major RUBY events, they give away t-shirts. Check them out.
