That’s right… we’re throwing our 5th annual timed fashion competition this October in Manhattan. Two designers enter a ring of fire to fight off a minotaur while designing couture on the fly. The losing designer will be thrown into a spike pit filled with snakes while LVHRD members pour boiling oil into the pit. This is all assuming we can get the permits.
Well… that’s about all the details we can give out right now pending permit approval. So we made these totally awesome promotional videos to keep you interested while…

Today we found an interesting intersection between FASHION + TECHNOLOGY. A bunch of Ruby on Rails developers are developing shirts based on the code that they work in all day. The company is called THOUGHT BOT, they make websites for a wide range of companies. But on the side, and sometimes at major RUBY events, they give away t-shirts. Check them out.

Jon Chonko from thehappycorp spent two days going up and down a ladder, pencil stenciling THE AWARDS across this wall at the Art Directors Club.
It’s the kind of thing that makes your eyes believe in God: one minute the words are there and the next minute they’ve spread out into a massive line-flock. The letters exist only because the lines BEND. Lines, bending. Mind, blown.
thehappycorp produced the entire design aesthetic for the 87th ADC Awards with help from Trollbäck. They even brought in some absurdly stellar celebrity DJs to blow everyone’s mind with…

It’s been almost 20 years since the first printing of John J. Muth’s graphic novel adaptation of Fritz Lang’s film, M.
Long out of print, Abrams is bringing the hotness (and darkness) back this spring with a special edition one-volume re-printing of the noir classic.
NY Mag published a special excerpt last week. The charcoal and ink drawings are eerily immersive: you can feel the soot, the clatter-wail of trains and sudden burst of a pigeon flock.
See the full excerpt here.

LVHRD member and Shooting War illustrator Dan Goldman’s drawings accompany West Wing writer Lawrence O’Donnell Jr’s vision of the 2008 Democratic Convention in NY Mag.
Written as a movie treatment, “Four Days in Denver” starts with some hardcore man-on-man sex and gets more fascinating from there, right up until O’Donnell reveals his pick for the Democrat’s nominee for President.
Read it not only for the writing, but because Al Gore has lost 30 pounds and is WAY hot.

From the mind of Ben Barry comes Society of Champions,
a fresh store front featuring some of the best up and coming artists and designers.
While there may not be much content at the moment, quality sure as hell kills quantity.
The first artist series features a personal favorite, Seattle illustrator/artist Kyle Kesterson.
“Intrikaboom” is a 6 color print with glow in the dark paint on the clouds and a gloss overprint varnish on the ghosts.
So for those of you who miss their fuzzy black light alien poster, you can…
