The ________________ of Barack Obama

Yazmany Arboleda’s The Assassination of Barack Obama & The Assassination of Hilary Clinton returned yesterday for a 24 hour showing in a metal and cement storefront across from the NY Times Building on 40th street.

I was early to the opening. Maybe a dozen people stood around inside and upstairs, climbing stairs flanked by a big black cock. A DJ played songs. We drank juice.

Yazmany was thrilled. The Secret Service had come for him the day before while he was setting up the exhibit, masking all the art in brown butcher paper…

Documenting The Designers Of Tomorrow

Disclaimer: I am not a designer and I don’t know a whole lot about design… but I happened to stumble upon something I think is awesome.

RISD is offering a free download of the Process Document documenting their students’ work in RISD’s Spring 2008 Visiting Designers Workshop, and, regardless of my complete lack of design sensibilities, I find it incredibly interesting to watch as the students work through projects handed down to them by Project Projects, Paul Sahre and Daniel Van der Velden.

Take a second to check it out. I…

VDO: Black cock goes for a walk

Preparing to re-open The Assassination of Barack Obama and The Assassination of Hilary Clinton, Colombian artist Yazmany Arboleda and some friends took an indelicate part of Barack’s anatomy for a guerrilla walk across NYC over the weekend.

Arboleda’s The Assassinations were shut down several months ago after their gallery hosts in Chelsea received extensive pressure (read Secret Service) to pull down the controversial exhibits dealing with the media’s portrayal of Clinton and Obama.

But, as this video shows, Barack is coming back in all his Mandingo glory to NYC when the exhibits go…

Word on the Street : Hillary supports Obama

Today on my way to work, I passed our old office, which is now a hole in the ground.  While I was walking up to it, I saw Hillary Clinton.  From afar it was hard to tell what was on her hat, was it a moon or a space station?  It was an Obama Logo.  Upon looking at the wonderful wheat-paste, I couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing the official merch, she must have bought it in china town.

ADC Gala: The Wall

Jon Chonko from thehappycorp spent two days going up and down a ladder, pencil stenciling THE AWARDS across this wall at the Art Directors Club.

It’s the kind of thing that makes your eyes believe in God: one minute the words are there and the next minute they’ve spread out into a massive line-flock. The letters exist only because the lines BEND. Lines, bending. Mind, blown.

thehappycorp produced the entire design aesthetic for the 87th ADC Awards with help from Trollbäck.  They even brought in some absurdly stellar celebrity DJs to blow everyone’s mind with…

Halo 3: killing spree at the ADC

The multimedia campaign for Halo 3 ate lunch and dinner at the 87th Annual Art Directors Club Awards, taking home 5 Gold Awards in Broadcast Advertising, Broadcast Art Direction and Integrated Advertising. It is one of the most decorated art projects in history.

For the launch the third game in the Halo series Bungie and Microsoft assembled a truly breathtaking breadth of diorama, video and audio that takes viewers through the Battle for New Mombasa where Earth’s forces clashed with the invading Covenant alien fleet.

The story of battle is…

Fantasy: Wild Beast Animal Gifts

We know you’ve probably been wondering where to get Bobwhite or Brown Bear patches, maybe a “license Plate featuring a Bald Eagle soaring over a canyon” or a “license Plate featuring a Brown Bear surveying the terrain.”

And of course it’s hard in New York to find animal femo beads to hang from your belt fob or trick out your staff. This is why we were so elated this afternoon to come across Wild Beast Animal Gifts, purveyors of everything mentioned above and so much more.

Make pictures look old and Japanese

We can’t read any of the copy on this site, but being born in the final 20 years of the 20th century has afforded us small bits of internet intuition.

Upload a picture, hit the button and your picture comes out looking like a letter from Iwo Jima.

For fun that just does not stop, try it with an IM conversation.

Make everything OLDS.
