VDO: Bob Gruen show at Morrison Hotel Gallery last night

Zoo town last night at the Bob Gruen opening on Bowery.

Mr. Jaeger and Mr. Pope got a tour of the show: word round the campfire is there are some pretty famous pictures hanging on the walls.

They also report that the Varvatos store occupying CBGB’s DOES NOT SUCK and is very well put together. Go figure. We were ready to…

Make pictures look old and Japanese

We can’t read any of the copy on this site, but being born in the final 20 years of the 20th century has afforded us small bits of internet intuition.

Upload a picture, hit the button and your picture comes out looking like a letter from Iwo Jima.

For fun that just does not stop, try it with an IM…

This is why people moved from the eastern part of the United States to the western part of the United States. Because you just can’t do this sort of thing in Connecticut.

From the book of Revelations: Dr. Odio

More and more I’m convinced that people want the world to end. As evidence I site Dr. Odio’s Flickr stream of passive horrors.

Increasingly the internet is either celebrities, porn, or cute fluff. Or variations therein with accompanying words.

The endless permutations of sites like ICanHasCheeseburger allude to a deep and abiding horror, a horror so prevalent we are accustomed to it,…

PHTHRD II Champion: Jonathan Harris

Congratulations to Jonathan Harris on becoming the PHTHRD II Champion.

The laurels, fortune & glory, that come with winning a LVHRD Master-Disaster Duel are mostly incomprehensible and difficult for most to bear upon their shoulders. We hope Jonathan is ready.

Thank you to Elizabeth Weinberg and Joseph O. Holmes for lending your talent to our Photographer’s Duel. The completed Polaroid Mosaics look great;…

Or maybe it’s a little Freudian wishful thinking. Upon closer inspection, it looks like someone holding up a trout.

Even if it isn’t a naked chick sprawled out…

Bearing Witness: 5 Years of The Iraq War

Captivating Reuters Iraq retrospective in photo and video.

Maybe this is Just Reuters showing off the fact they can hire great photographers, but these pictures are still important and this collection is still moving.

Flickr introduces revolutionary “moving pictures”

So you can post 90 second video clips on Flickr now.

Flickr considers these “videos” to be nothing more than “long photographs.”

So, see, they’re not trying to compete with Vimeo or anything.

Webby Nominee: The Whale Hunt

Jonathan Harris‘ latest interactive opus, The Whale Hunt, has been nominated for a 2008 Best Visual Design Webby.

In May 2007 Harris  spent nine days living with a family of Inupiat Eskimos in Barrow, Alaska, traveling with them as they hunted, killed, and chopped up two Bowhead whales. Harris documented the entire experience with 3,214 photographs, beginning with his cab…

Flickr Pool recreates 70s cocaine party

A Flickr pool dedicated to recreating a 70s cocaine party.

The original photos come from FoundPhotoslj, but you can’t see them unless you’re his pal.

He has a lot of other great found photo sets though. Namely, The City of Compton Collection.
