An exploration of the power of sport, table tennis phenom Wally Green, design-duo Upnorth, host Mark Nardelli of 5boro skateboards all explored sports effect on their lives. We were inspired, we were joyous, we played a lot of ping pong.

Thirty-two days until SuperBowl XLII explodes all over Arizona at the 73,000+ University of Phoenix Stadium.  Pick a noun, add -GASM to the end and that’s what it’s going to be.

You can see LVHRD member Paul Pope’s rendition of the impending festivities in the upcoming Feb 08 issue of GQ.  Here it is now, via his Flickr page.

BIFOLD SPORT: Wally Green vs. Jon Parker

Tsdy Nov.27.2007 1:08pm | by lvhrd

In case you missed BIFOLD SPORT, here is a video of table tennis pro Wally Green using his cell phone for a paddle in a match against Veer’s Jon Parker.

It might be a parlor trick, but it’s a really good parlor trick.

Worth watching for the trash-talking alone.

Preview the battle of the balls in the first VDO from BIFOLD SPORT.

With help from Veer, we took over the New York Table Tennis Foundation’s underground palace for a night of sport and design with ping pong pro Wally Green, Upnorth designers Justin Kay and Steve Green and 5boro skateboards founder Mark Nardelli.

You can almost feel the spin in these shots, the naked aggression of backhanded volleys over the net. It was all in fun, but something about going mano y mano with a paddle brings out our competitive…

BIFOLD SPORT: The Ricochet

Wdnsdy Nov.14.2007 7:30pm | by lvhrd

Last night LVHRD and Veer welcomed table tennis pro Wally Green, Upnorth graphic designers Steve Green and Justin Kay to the New York Table Tennis Foundation for BIFOLD SPORT.

Hosted by Mark Nardelli, Creative Director of 5boro skateboarding and original NYC skater, we went underground in Chinatown to explore the intersection of sport and design.

When we showed up at the NYTTF the members were still in full-on practice mode: the wicked ricochet of ping pong balls sounding especially explosive reverberating off the low-ceiling.

We filmed the action for a bit, orange plastic balls whizzing…

Mark Nardelli, the creative director of 5boro skateboarding, will be the host at BIFOLD SPORT tomorrow night.

Nardelli, as he is more commonly called, has lived and skated in NYC for pretty much his entire life. He runs 5boro with his business partner and fellow skater, Steve Rodriquez.

Join Mark, table tennis pro Wally Green, designers Justin Kay and Steve Green, and LVHRD in an underground ping pong palace as we explore the way designers and athletes have leap-frogged their way to mutual success by being involved in both the worlds…
