Ballet shoes vs. Aids

Tsdy May.27.2008 12:31pm | by richard

For second year in a row, Kristin Sloan of NYCBallet has collected signed merchandise from the NYCBallet to Auction on Ebay for the Aids walk 2008.  She launched the auction from her behind the scenes blog, thewinger.com.  Check out the Photos, they are really beautiful, I almost think they should sell prints of the the dance shoes that Sloan took.  Also take a look on thewinger, they have a section that demystifies the pointe shoe.

An All Day Buffet

Wdnsdy Feb.21.2007 5:52pm | by Mango Roosevelt

LVHRD member, avid dancer (see the most DNCHRD VDO) and social butterfly, Victor Jeffreys, has been working hard over the last several months to conceptualize and develop a not-for-profit organization that aims to motivate young adults to recognize problems in the world, learn about them, and act together to make a difference. All this but without compromising one’s capacity to have fun.

The organization is called All Day Buffet and while it has nothing to do with food, it has almost everything to do with hunger. All Day Buffet will…

DNCHRD in Vienna

Mndy Jan.29.2007 4:03pm | by Lint Fleecewood

Apparently, we here in New York aren’t the only ones who know a thing or two about shaking a leg and DNCNG HRD. In a recent blog post by LVHRD/New York City Ballet member and The Winger founder Kristin Sloan, it turns out that Vienna is also a hot spot for getting up just to get down.

At the 66th Vienna Philharmonic ball, held within the Vienna Musikverein, the main auditorium is transformed into a glitzy, red carpeted dance hall.

It is there that the audience is treated to some complicated couples choreography…

Seth Herzog’s Annual New Year’s Bash

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 5:42pm | by Lint Fleecewood

Taking place at Fontana’s in the Lower East Side (no longer at Tai - Tai closed its doors - forget about Tai) is Seth Herzog’s annual New Year’s Eve Party. Starting at 9:30 and going way into the 2 double 0 7, dress attire is optional, so you can wear anything from your Sunday best to your 90’s grunge era flannel shirt. Just not your birthday suit (unless, of course, it’s a dance routine involving a thin curtain, a back light, and a James Bond theme song…).

Ten dollars gets you into the…

In Need of More Zog?

Thrsdy Sep.21.2006 2:07pm | by chantal

If last week’s dose of Seth Herzog wasn’t enough to satisfy, you can catch Mr. Herzog tonight at his weekly show SWEET at the Slipper Room. This week, Mr. Herzog welcomes L.A. based comedian Nick Swardson, UCB Theater co-founder Matt Walsh, comedian and actor Baron Vaughn, and Christian folk rock duo God’s Pottery (just back from their award-nominated performance at the Edinburgh Comedy Festival). We’re unsure if Mr. Herzog will be naked this evening (to the dismay of countless DNCHRD2 attendees I’m sure) but in his own words, tonight’s show is one of his…

LVHRD Knights New Champion of Dance at DNCHRD2

Frdy Sep.15.2006 5:31pm | by chantal

On Tuesday, September 12th, in a night made possible by Dewar’s and Brooklyn Brewery, hundreds of LVHRD members flocked to an unknown loft space on 28th Street in New York City for a tumultuous Battle of the Moves 2. The evening began with MC Seth Herzog’s notorious naked James Bond routine, setting the pace for the exceptional dance, comedy and general raucousness to follow. LVHRD’s nine dance contenders, selected from two rounds of auditions arranged before the competition, were narrowed down to four, and then to two, by a panel of…

DNCHRD II SWEET audition on thewinger

Tsdy Sep.12.2006 10:55am | by chantal

Kristin Sloan of thewinger made this video of last weeks DNCHRD II SWEET tryouts:

“This video is from last week when I helped judge the second and final round of auditions for tonights dance-off at Sweet, Seth Herzog’s weekly comedy show at The Slipper Room in NYC.
With me on the judging panel were celebrity comedians Josh Charles (Sportsnight), Sam Rockwell (Charlie’s Angels) and John Viner (Family Guy). Not bad company if I do say so myself.”

Kristin judged DNCHRD II. and was responsible for running 2 separate auditions at Alvin Ailey Dance…
