The Quiet Party

Mndy Jun.4.2007 6:27pm | by lvhrd

A muffled version of LV HRD descends upon NYC…

The Quiet Party is a completely silent dating experience, where potential lovers must rely on furtive eye contact and passing notes to make each other swoon. It’s potentially very sexy, more so than shouting spittle on someone at a packed bar.

The next Quiet Party is going down Wednesday, June 13th at Madame X on Houston, from 6:30 to 9:30pm. Admission is $10.

Bring your single or not-so-single friends. The whole point of this is to be a bit mischievous. It reminds us of…

Held at a gorgeous banquet hall in New York’s Chinatown, 6 singers fought through a variety of rounds and challenges in this single elimination tournament. Hosted by Michelle Collins and judged by Tim Harrington of Les Savy Fav, Ricky Van Veen of College Humor, Rob Harvilla of The Village Voice, and Andres Levin of Yerba Buena, MCFGHT ushered singers and audience through the full performance spectrum. In this VDO, LVHRD traces the steps of…

To celebrate the new indie rock cookbook, “I Like Food, Food Tastes Good,” the Brooklyn Kitchen, a cookware store in Williamsburg, presents a nightly cookalong with local rockstars leading up to the book release party at Union Pool on May 5th.

Tonight, Tim Harrington, frontman of Les Savy Fav, who judged LVHRD’s MCFGHT I (MCFGHT II is coming!!) and played at CLL PHN LCKN, teaches the curious how to make ceviche at 7pm.

No word on what kind of ceviche Mr. Harrington will prepare, but this sounds like yummy, community-building fun without the…

VMC II Competitors Update

Tsdy Mar.13.2007 1:10pm | by lvhrd

Last week we annouced the MOMA and the Onion as the first bold contenders to rise up to the VMC II and by this point you are probably asking yourself, “Who are their opponents?”

The Onion challenged the NY Post in hopes to pin two journalistic publications against one another, but as NY Post lagged in getting a team together, their fears heightened and hence pulled out of the challenge today. If you are worried, don’t be. AM New York has stepped up to the plate and posed a challenge to the Onion. They…

You, Sir or Madam, are a Douche

Thrsdy Jan.11.2007 11:46am | by lvhrd

Is there somebody on your list you’d like to call a douche but don’t have the tongue or brass to say it?

Thanks to LVHRD supporter and close friend Orange32, who helped us with ACTHRD, MCFGHT, and FSHN DL3, you don’t have to. Well, at least not with your mouth.

Coming to you at only $5 dollars for a pack of 25, their new, “you are a douche,” business card does all the work for you.

Aptly describing how you may feel about someone you hate, or maybe even someone…

LVHRD Interviews JAHFURRY

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 10:19pm | by lvhrd

LVHRD: Okay, so this is the DRTS series of LVHRD, something new that we’re starting to find out more about LVHRD and its members. It’s complimentary to LVHRD MGZN’s NTRVW series, and is presented in AIM format to offer more of a conversational approach similar to the fast moving, fast talking internet age. Today, we’re talking to Jeff Newelt, aka JahFurry. Jeff is interesting because he dips his toe into so many different things. On one hand, he’s a PR man at MWW Group for Samsung (the day gig), SMITH Magazine, ACT-I-VATE online…

Seth Herzog’s Annual New Year’s Bash

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 5:42pm | by lvhrd

Taking place at Fontana’s in the Lower East Side (no longer at Tai - Tai closed its doors - forget about Tai) is Seth Herzog’s annual New Year’s Eve Party. Starting at 9:30 and going way into the 2 double 0 7, dress attire is optional, so you can wear anything from your Sunday best to your 90’s grunge era flannel shirt. Just not your birthday suit (unless, of course, it’s a dance routine involving a thin curtain, a back light, and a James Bond theme song…).

Ten dollars gets you into the…

DJ ARI K 2006 PLYLST

Wdnsdy Dec.27.2006 5:04pm | by lvhrd

Sometime LVHRD DJ Ari Kushner has compiled his juicy list of favorites tracks for 2006. He’s compiled both an upbeat playlist and a more even-handed list of solid indie tracks, all meticulously chosen, and all delicious. You can listen to them at his music blog, Nugroove, or download the longer list when he airs them live on FM WDNA South Florida. Listen to the show on Saturdays at 11pm eastern.

The first mix is a Miami-ish blend of salsa, soul, dance music and funky electro. It’s definitely for toe-tapping and will…
