More and more I have been reading that celebrity is dead, and that more and more teenagers care less about celebrities. But what if everyone could be a celebrity? What if everyone could be Kanye West? Check out this new television infomercial featuring Kanye, a perky blond, and some regular guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TrkrSdyIHY

MUJI is putting out the call to all designers: find something traditional and well designed, isolate the best qualities, and create something contemporary. Huh? The example they use on their site is the right-angled sock: Czech grandmothers would traditionally hand-knit socks with a right angle on the heel. This more closely mirrors the shape of your foot than footlockers boomerang shaped socks. So, Muji designed a new form of sock inspired by the Czech tradition and they are super fucking comfortable.

Concepts, the Massachusetts street-gear depot, collaborated with Nike Skateboarding to create the absurd Lobster Dunks. No detail was ignored. Rubberbands round the toes. Bib-like tongue and lining. Extra buttery laces. Crackers. Wet naps. A sense of humor is rare - if not completely devoid - in the shoe world. Seeing something like this makes me very happy and very hungry.

Today we stumpled upon the Facebook gangster. They really nailed it. The jokes, the rap style, we lost about 2 hours today looking and laughing at his viral gem. We couldn’t help compare it to Black 20’s Sheffield Quigley. Quigley was the first professional myspace photographer. This is no lazy sunday, but we really enjoy how they classify types of social network photos and how they might have been created.
Another great facebook video comes from the UK, set at someones door step, displaying the discomfort and possible downside to friending…

Today on my way to work, I passed our old office, which is now a hole in the ground. While I was walking up to it, I saw Hillary Clinton. From afar it was hard to tell what was on her hat, was it a moon or a space station? It was an Obama Logo. Upon looking at the wonderful wheat-paste, I couldn’t help but notice she wasn’t wearing the official merch, she must have bought it in china town.

Today we found an interesting intersection between FASHION + TECHNOLOGY. A bunch of Ruby on Rails developers are developing shirts based on the code that they work in all day. The company is called THOUGHT BOT, they make websites for a wide range of companies. But on the side, and sometimes at major RUBY events, they give away t-shirts. Check them out.

We know you’ve probably been wondering where to get Bobwhite or Brown Bear patches, maybe a “license Plate featuring a Bald Eagle soaring over a canyon” or a “license Plate featuring a Brown Bear surveying the terrain.”
And of course it’s hard in New York to find animal femo beads to hang from your belt fob or trick out your staff. This is why we were so elated this afternoon to come across Wild Beast Animal Gifts, purveyors of everything mentioned above and so much more.

I’ve wanted a pair of Toms for a while; my first pair arrived about 20 minutes ago, perfect timing, since my slip-ons from Pearl River are totally soaked-through with sweat.
Along with the super-comfortable shoes Toms sent a sticker and a flag, which I love mostly because it is blue and white like Argentina, which is a lovely country in the Spring Time, but that’s not now, cause their seasons are opposite.
For every pair of Toms you buy, Tom - or whoever - sends a pair to a shoeless…

LVHRD member Rebecca Turbow has launched a Japanese Insanity Trap (JIT) to promote her new Spring/Summer 2008 line.
Use your speed-eyes to spot the eclectic mix of hem-me-ups and hem-me-downs the ladies will be wearing in buckets by the time the buds are falling off the trees…oh…that’s already happening - guess that means Rebecca Turbow makes sick clothes. Too bad they’re only for the ladies. Hurts my XY heart.
