Thank You Dewars

So: Tom’s are cool: buy a pair, help some kids

I’ve wanted a pair of Toms for a while; my first pair arrived about 20 minutes ago, perfect timing, since my slip-ons from Pearl River are totally soaked-through with sweat.

Along with the super-comfortable shoes Toms sent a sticker and a flag, which I love mostly because it is blue and white like Argentina, which is a lovely country in the Spring Time, but that’s not now, cause their seasons are opposite.

For every pair of Toms you buy, Tom - or whoever - sends a pair to a shoeless…

VDO: Rebecca Turbow: new SAFE line go crazy

LVHRD member Rebecca Turbow has launched a Japanese Insanity Trap (JIT) to promote her new Spring/Summer 2008 line.

Use your speed-eyes to spot the eclectic mix of hem-me-ups and hem-me-downs the ladies will be wearing in buckets by the time the buds are falling off the trees…oh…that’s already happening - guess that means Rebecca Turbow makes sick clothes. Too bad they’re only for the ladies. Hurts my XY heart.

Secret Threads

From minds at MyOpenBar.com who gave substance to the euphemism, “Avoid hangovers, stay drunk,” comes the latest iteration in cheap-gorging, Secret Threads, a site devoted to “cherry-picked events, art openings, trunk shows, under-the-radar store and sample sale events and parties,” mostly downtown.

Get your fix. Loot New York bare. Secret Threads.

Filson Bags

Like most people who live in NYC, I carry objects with me that make my hump from Brooklyn to Nolita to wherever the hell else I end up, more comfortable and entertaining.

I use a bag to hold these objects.  For a while I had a bag from KNOX, put together by my friend Jessica. That one started to fall apart, so for my birthday I asked for another bag.

Walking around the Meatpacking, I happened into the Earnest Sewn store and saw a truckbed array of some very sturdy and…

Turbow in NY Mag: I’ve gone gray

Clothing Designer Rebecca Turbow (FSHN DL II) has switched her wardrobe from turquoise to monochromatic gray. If this doesn’t shock you or sound amazing, it should. When we say she has “switched,” we mean that every article of clothing Rebecca wears is now gray, from ribbons to the soles of her shoes.

“Last September I switched to gray,” says Rebecca in NY Mag. “I’d had a bad year and I needed to get out of it (turquoise).”

Her clothing line still has plenty of turquoise; Rebecca feels that splitting her personal…

Granph’s English site live

The Design Tshirt Store Granph site is now up in English, meaning you don’t have to stagger through Hiragana anymore to find designs from artists like Justin Kay, Chris Rubino and Doug Jaeger.

The English translation is still a bit off, but it’s cute.

Uluru: new mutiny for old clothes

My father loves the scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones jumps into the sea plane after escaping a horde of natives chasing him from the caves where he stole the golden idol; the plane takes off and Indy finds a boa constrictor slithering around his feet; he flips out: “Snakes! I hate snakes!” “That’s just my pet snake Reggie,” Jacques says, “Show a little backbone will ya?”

LVHRD member Caroline Priebe brings this point home with her new collaboration with Alabama Chanin. Priebe’s clothing line, Uluru,…
