Thank You Dewars

Ballet 2339 AD

If any of you plan on taking it back to fair Verona or Swan Lake at DNCHRD IV, you might want to invest in a pair of Capulet’s Pointe D30, apparently the latest evolution in ballet footwear…for some reason no one else has improved on pointe shoes in several millennials.

ALSO:

Capulet’s website (when it finally loads) is the most sexed-out American Apparel dance site we’ve ever seen.

Attention: The World Slowly Kills You

The NY Times reports that hot water contains more lead than cold water.

To which we reply, Who the hell cares?

Long ago we came to terms with our slow an inevitable death and the hands of the world’s poisonous machina.

Unless you are heralding the imminent arrival of Beelzebub himself from a fiery fissure in the earth’s crust, please shut up about mankind’s surely failing collective experience on this planet.

Insane lumberjack competitions

Apparently the 3 rules de jour for lumberjack competitions are “the more blades the better,” “the faster people are moving with those blades the better” and “the more off-balance people are while moving quickly holding blades the better.”

Run and Cut. This is the kind of thing you stumble on while on vacation in Huntington Beach. In that setting it looks perfectly normal. Then you go back home and think, “What the hell were those people doing on that pier?”

MTAA Super Slow 5k

The Super Slow 5k is an utterly non-competitive (some might say lazy) “race” around McCarren Park this Sunday.

It’s so non-competitive that participants are encouraged to take naps, stop for hot dogs, and wander out into the neighborhood for a drink. Just make sure to keep your number on!

No one is expected to show up on time or actually finish the race. You can register here if you’re terribly concerned, or just show up at the park on Sunday.

This kind of laissez-faire wandering seems perfectly suited to Williamsburg. There will also…

Camilla the Killah

Camilla of the photography duo, Kate & Camilla who will be competing at LVHRD’s PHTHRD on July 24th, is in Richmond Virginia this weekend looking to lose 2 pounds of water weight and kick the hell out of some people.

Camilla practices Muay Thai kickboxing. You can read about her preparations for the WKA North American Championships on the Kate & Camilla blog:

“There’s nothing more that can be done other than rehydrate, eat, suit up in my shiny pink shorts, strap down my boobies, slip in my mouth guard and let everything…

2 days remain for New York Bike Share Project

New York Bike-Share Project is taking baby steps. (BLDGBLOG)

People have been amiably sharing bikes in Europe for years (Copenhagen bike share started in 1995), which makes us skeptical that it will work in NYC.

But it’s worth a shot.

Until July 11th you can stop by Storefront for Art and Architecture, pick up a free bike, ride it around for 1/2 hour, and then drop it back at the Storefront. Theoretically, this will charge you full of the holy bike riding spirit and you will insist that NYC adopt a bike…

Do this for your children

We tried to protect you from cell phone radiation at CLLPHNLCKN. Maybe we didn’t go far enough.

Textually reports that Swiss clothing manufacturer, Isabodywear has come out with a new line of men’s briefs made with special silver thread to block harmful cell phone radiation from damaging sperm.

Purportedly, the underwear’s radiation blockage is so strong that if you put your phone inside the briefs and call it, you won’t get a signal.

Guys, it’s like wrapping your valuables in a concrete bunker. Wear these to the next GMHRD and we’ll buy you…

Counting Food

With the second week of 2007 in full swing and New York City getting its first snowfall, it officially feels more like a normal new year. That being said, how are those new year resolutions going?

For those of us resolving to be a bit more health conscious this year, hitting the gym and counting calories is becoming quite a habit. Well, did you know that 34 grams of fried bacon is equivalent in calories to 1425 grams of celery? Conveniently - there’s a site with pictures of what 200…
