GTA IV has made get-away artists of us all, encouraging the stringing together of automatic weapons, planted explosives, helicopters and health packs. It’s second nature now to stand in the middle of the grocery store, the train station, the bank and begin sizing it up GTA style: Hit him with a potted plant. Shoot a rocket into that lady’s purse. Summon a 900cc motorcycle from thin air and jump over a Panzer tank in slow motion. Piece of cake.

Alas, wringing duckets is hard work. It often goes sour. Just ask the movies.
