Fill Burma with your voice

2007.Sep.28. Friday - by lvhrd

The protest of the despotic military junta in Burma has led to days of violence in the streets, including the death of a Japanese photographer in Yangon.

Buddhist monks, protesting the government’s disavowal of civil and human rights, led peaceful marches through the capitol city this week, backed by 100,000 civilians.

Burma’s government has responded with violence, raiding monasteries, beating monks, scattering protesters with clubs, and in at least one instance, opening fire into an unarmed crowd.

If we speak up now, there is a strong chance that world awareness will lead to intervention in Burma and the return of sovereign rule to the people.

We may not all walk the same roads in life, but anyone who draws breath knows that freedom is worth fighting for.
