BIFOLD CONFLICT host Anthony Lappé is appearing tonight at McNally Robinson Booksellers on Prince Street to discuss his new graphic novel collaboration with illustrator Dan Goldman, Shooting War, as part of NYU professor Mark Crispin Miller’s First Tuesday political events series.
Set in the near future, Shooting War tells the story of a video blogger thrust into covering the US quagmire in Iraq after he captures a suicide bombing at a Starbucks in Williamsburg.
The graphics are mix of photography and illustration; plenty of blood and believable new technology: the marines in Iraq navigate Baghdad with Google maps on PDAs.
