Dewar’s Repeal Day Winners
2007.Jan.30. Tuesday - by lvhrd
In the spirit of the great heroes of Prohibition the gangsters, boot leggers, and organized crime bosses who kept alcohol flowing during dry times LVHRD invited New York's modern day gangsters (those counter-cultural groups, organizations and publications who festively embody similar ideas of change) to celebrate this momentous date.
Guests were met by hired henchman on street corners throughout the city, put into limosines, and safely shuttled to the party's undisclosed location at The Players Club on Gramercy Park. All guests were given pouches of 10 chips, and rival gangs were encouraged to gamble, barter, beg, and steal to end the night with the most tokens. Arm wrestling tables were placed throughout the venue to help gang rivalries such as The Onion and The New York Post, Alvin Ailey and American Ballet Theater dancers, Flavorpill and DailyCandy, settle old scores and gamble their chips away.
And now… the chips are in. After much debate, bribery, bickering and deceit, LVHRD is pleased to announce the big winners at Dewar’s Repeal Day. We would like to congratulate Deep Focus ($62,100 in chips) and Paper Magazine ($55,400 in chips) for their shameful tactics which secured them a stunning victory! You begged, you stole, you cheated, you lied, you showed some skin. You make us proud!

Until next year!
