RIP SHIT UP
ARCH DL IV To-Do List.
You’re looking at a portion of team KONYK’s sketchpad from Dewar’s Master-Disaster Architects Duel. What began as a bumper sticker-like call to arms ended up a nice summation of what went down in the sold-out Music Hall of Williamsburg last night.
A capacity crowd of Log-men and Alaskan Wildlife were welcomed by The Lumberjack and The Bear, our surly hosts fresh from the Timberline. Responding to a surprise brief - Paul and James from FXFOWLE and David and Sean from KONYK - separated by a large, flannel sheet - went to task:
Build an Alaskan Wildlife Research Facility using drinking straws - a representation of the Alaskan Oil Pipeline.
Over three rounds, 30 minutes for sketching and planning, 90 for building, and 10 for presenting to the audience, the Architects worked against their brief. Straws were flying, scotch was consumed, the girl in the bunny costume got lots of attention and The Bear mauled two young reporters.

Konyk drew cheers when they literally RIPPED SHIT on their scale plot of tundra, incorporating large chunks of earth into their Research Facility.
FXFOWLE brought the house down as they revealed their model was not only a beautiful mix of angular buildings and wounded caribou pits, but a SMILEY FACE as well. Permafrost be damned, these designers were happy.
As the charrett drew to a close, each team presented their plans to the capacity crowd - what ensued will be presented, for all the world to enjoy, in a special VDO tomorrow afternoon.
Stay tuned, as we’ll have more updates from our end, and from who else is talking about Arch Dl, throughout the day.
