Mother Jones, the nonprofit investigative journalism mag, has published a playlist of the songs US troops use when torturing detainees.

According to their story:

Music has been used in American military prisons to induce sleep deprivation, “prolong capture shock,” disorient detainees during interrogations . . . Based on a leaked interrogation log, news reports, and the accounts of soldiers and detainees, here are some of the songs . . .

Yes, there is a smattering of heavy metal, just what you’d expect, but the standouts of this list are the lighter hits, the ‘Home Depot” music: Don Maclean, the Barney theme, Matchbox 20 and THE MEOW MIX JINGLE.

Born in the USA is a nice touch too.
