Fashion designers have one hour to dress their model - using a surprise material - in front of a ‘live’ audience. Held on halloween-eve, no guests will make it out of Fashion Duel IV alive.
As part of their feature on the anniversary of the brassiere New York Magazine talked to FSHN DL IV competitors Nikki Dekker and Maayan Zilberman about their lingerie line, The Lake & Stars.
“Our stuff is comfortable enough to wear under a t-shirt,” says Nicki.
“Or for, um, sexy time,” adds Maayan.
The Lake & Stars specializes in the essential feminine luxury of undergarments, not utilitarian workhorse conversion bras.
“I had one of those (eight-ways-to-wear-it-bras) in college and I could never figure out more than two ways to wear it,” says Nikki.

Designers from Eventide and The Lake and Stars dish on the origins of their enigmatic names, inspirations, and how they feel about smut in the second VDO from FSHN DL IV.
Scissors between the teeth, watch the construction of the magazine dresses that the teams so bravely built in front of a zombie horde. Savage fashion never looked so good.
This VDO dives deep into the fashion Hades. Brace yourself.
Part 2 of the photos from FSHN DL IV is up in the LVHRD Gallery.
These photos, principally of our members in the hand-crafted magazine photo booth, are the work of Eric Luc.
You can see more of his photography at ericluc.com, including this picture of Eric right before a mounted calvary charge.
Thanks to Fast Ashleys Studios for providing the lighting for the shoot.
At FSHN DL IV we made paper the world’s most valuable material in the face of vanishing natural resources: no more trees.
Human beings, left to survive in an apocalyptic landscape, naturally became zombies to cope with the lack of food and shelter.
Thus we tasked designers from Eventide and The Lake & Stars with creating evening wear out of the only textile left on the planet: old fashion magazines.
The results were stunning, and surprisingly functional. Who needs Uniqlo? Bring on global warming! We could do without the whole zombification thing though.…

On TSDY, October 30th, LVHRD hosted an orgy of the macabre at Dewar’s Master-Disaster FSHN DL IV: UNDD BLL.
Teams of designers from Eventide and The Lake & Stars, brought together by LVHRD’s media partner Refinery29, faced each other in a one hour duel, creating evening wear on live models from old fashion magazines, glue, and electrical tape in front of a crowd of zombies.
In this TMLPS of the event you will see the Undead horde slowly fill Midtown Loft and get a feel for what it’s like to create…
Part 1 of the photos from FSHN DL IV is up in the LVHRD Gallery.
UPDATE, 11/2, Joanna Totolici’s photos have been added to the gallery.
Renowned war photographer Igor Smith is responsible for the first half of these pictures. See more of his work at DrivenbyBoredom.com
and check back to LVHRD later for part 2 of what will become a yearbook for our Undead Ball.
Last night at Midtown Loft, an intrepid mob of sartorial somnambulists gathered for the Dewar’s Master-Disaster FSHN DL IV: UNDEAD BALL, curated by Refinery 29.com.
Following a brief elevator ride, guests were welcomed into a loft-space that glowed blood-red. There have been rumours that the party’ glowed red because a haunted river of blood flowed behind the venue’s walls; others attribute the crimson halo to red gels placed over eight old office lamps. There’s no way to be sure.
LVHRD members explored the space slowly, as zombies often do, enjoying…

Curated by Refinery 29, hosted by Dave Hill and judged by a panel of style trailblazers, FSHN DL IV will unite some of NYC’s brightest fashion lights for a much darker purpose…
Designers from Eventide and The Lake & Stars will have one hour and a secret material (hint: look at the picture) to create evening wear on live models.
Bring a fashion magazine, enjoy devilish cocktails by Dewar’s, and leave as something from beyond the grave.

Bring a fashion magazine to FSHN DL IV tonight.
This means Vogue, Marie Claire, People, GQ etc.
Designers from Eventide and The Lake & Stars are going to make something beautiful out of them.
This is what fashion magazines aspire to: actually becoming what’s on their pages.
Since living forever can be hell if you don’t have the right clothes to wear, we’ll be looking at the evolution of monster fashion in the weeks leading up to FSHN DL IV: UNDD BLL.
While not technically immortal, or even monsters, cyborgs, robots, and androids can be all the more terrifying because humans created them, often with the best intentions.
The disturbed, remorseless android, such as Ash in the original Alien, continues to be a horrifying character. Androids who turns against their makers confirm our worst fear: that we are…
In October 2007 at Midtown Loft, an intrepid mob of sartorial somnambulists gathered for the Dewar’s Master-Disaster FSHN DL IV: UNDEAD BALL, curated by Refinery 29.com. For our Fourth Annual Fashion Duel we imagined a future where deforestation had turned paper into mankind’s most precious resource, and thus the most desirable material for couture clothing.
