Golden Axe, Asteroids, Rolling Thunder: arcade games or underwear varietals? We were in search of the answer with our underpants-only video game tournament.
For second year in a row, Kristin Sloan of NYCBallet has collected signed merchandise from the NYCBallet to Auction on Ebay for the Aids walk 2008. She launched the auction from her behind the scenes blog, thewinger.com. Check out the Photos, they are really beautiful, I almost think they should sell prints of the the dance shoes that Sloan took. Also take a look on thewinger, they have a section that demystifies the pointe shoe.
We tried to protect you from cell phone radiation at CLLPHNLCKN. Maybe we didn’t go far enough.
Textually reports that Swiss clothing manufacturer, Isabodywear has come out with a new line of men’s briefs made with special silver thread to block harmful cell phone radiation from damaging sperm.
Purportedly, the underwear’s radiation blockage is so strong that if you put your phone inside the briefs and call it, you won’t get a signal.
Guys, it’s like wrapping your valuables in a concrete bunker. Wear these to the next GMHRD and we’ll buy you…
The Table of Malcontents has found a bikini-clad reason to bring up LVHRD’s GMHRD. Nearly two years after we dropped our pants at Barcade, the underwear-only video game competition is still turning heads. TOM thinks that might be due in no small part to the lady pictured here. From their blog:
“I’m really writing this post to highlight the scintillating firebrand above, who (understandably) hogged almost all the camera time at the last event. Showing up like an ultra-sexy, bikini-clad Atomic Fireball tends to do that to you.”
We would like to…
The second installment of LVHRD’s quarterly MGZN is finally here. This issue represents a lot of work and collaboration from LVHRD’s diverse membership, and the editorial staff is thrilled. Issue II explores the concept of ‘two’ through a range of interviews, reports, photo studies, feature length articles, and soundscapes. Donning Speto’s live painting from our second Bi-Fold event as its cover just seems to make sense, too.
Why read a post when you could read the real thing? Issue 2 is now available for download. Free. And be sure to check out LVHRD…
Tomorrow night, January 19th, The Pull-Out Method Party is having its second event from 11:30PM until way past when you should be under your covers. Thrown by LVHRD member and Production Editor at Flavorpill NYC, Leah Taylor, this party at Midway promises this simple equation: “two rawking bands + one killer DJ + drink specials + me, you, and everyone we know = a radiculous party!”
Sounds like one to us, too.
And if you made it out to the last party on January 5th (It’s an every other Friday thing), and…
Riding the subway in New York is always an adventure. There’s commerce, entertainment, and when you’re lucky, preachers going for some impromptu spiritual guidance. With the dropping temperatures, one thing we’ve noticed recently is that the subway cars are getting warmer. It makes us long for the comfort of our apartments where we can walk around with, say, less layers of clothing. Of course, if you are a LVHRD member from back in the day, you are no stranger to such antics.
Yearn no more, for one day only, and…
Monday, January 8th marks the date for the Chiptune 8bit Rockers’ concert at the Fat Baby Bar at 112 Rivington St. Taking place at 9 PM, all it will take is $7 to get you in the door and moving to all the beautiful 8-bit sounds this brilliant batch has to offer.
Featuring Nullsleep, The Depreciation Guild, Anamanaguchi, Bronx Monx, and LVHRD’s very own Mark Denardo, who was featured at the first Bi-Fold with comic book artist, Paul Pope, the sounds these artist’s emit alone is enough to send you hurdling back…
Besides the utterly amazing Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES, video game compilations are usually very much like greatest hits albums–great, but lacking something key, the filler tracks in between.
Sure, Capcom releasing Street Fighter II and Ghost ‘n Goblins on the same disk is great and all, but what about Street Fighter II: Champion Edition or Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, two great games that acted as seminal sequels to their trendsetting originals?
And that’s why Sega’s new disk, Sega Genesis Collection, is such a magnificent piece of work, it doesn’t skimp on the extras and includes…
With the holiday season looming closer and closer, it looks to be that time of year again where children demand the newest toy on the block and expect Santy Clause to deliver it come Christmas morning. This year, that new toy is the Playstation 3, a technological powerhouse, the mother of a beast, that plans to overthrow the world and also empty out countless wallets.
Good luck finding one, though, the darn things have been sold out ever since they came out on November 17th to the sweaty palms of fanboys and…
To get you even more in the mood for Bi-Fold II: WLD STRT, is this clip of the oft-forgotten Dreamcast gem, Jet Grind Radio. The goal of the game was simple. You, a hipster from the streets with a pair of roller blades and a can of spray paint, had to hit up as much of the city as possible with your signiture tag before the man could stop you. The game had a crisp and clean cel shaded look that would later be emulated by countless games that made it look…
PJ Hruschack wrote a recent article on “gamer garb”, in which there is a call out to the first LVHRD: GMHRD at Barcade. As usual the key details lead to an imaginary reconstuction of the event from photos on flickr.
On Monday, June 6th, the LVHRD Foundation organized its latest adventure — GMHRD: Underpants-Only Video Game Tournament. Members journeyed to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for a night of friendly video competition and strict dress code. Guests to Barcade, a unique Brooklyn concoction of classic 1980s-era video games and select American beers, were not allowed to enter the venue until they removed their pants. A complimentary “pants check” was available, as well as a variety of LVHRD branded underpants, in case certain visitors came unpreared. Wigs and helmets complimented the uniform, in accordance…
