We know that you remember Arch Duel II when teams, Grzywinski Pons Architects and global firm Arquitectonica were tasked with a surprise brief to build a floating ampitheater in a post-global warming watery cityscape. A floating structure seemed crazy back in March 2006, but environmental activists say that there is a possibility your home will be a few laps away.

On Tuesday, March 21st 2006, LVHRD hosted the Master-Disaster Architect Duel II at the Canal Room in Tribeca, NYC. In this David vs. Goliath match-up, downtown partnership Grzywinski Pons Architects challenged global firm Arquitectonica to a model building competition before the LVHRD audience. More than 500 screaming architects and fans braved the cold and the crowds to see who would be victorious. With Master-Disaster Architect Duel III looming on January 23rd, LVHRD thinks it would be interesting to take a gander at how one of its former competitors is doing. Spotlight on Arquitectonica, a global powerhouse that actually lost to smaller firm, Grzywinski Pons Architects, when constructing a post-global warming floating arena at Master-Disaster Architect Duel II.

LVHRD’s Architect Duel is back in action and set to take place next Tuesday, March 21. The competitors: Eric Hofmann and Daniel Colvard of Arquitectonica vs. Matthew Grzywinski and Amador Pons of Grzywinski Pons Architects. Arquitectonica is a global giant, flexing its muscles in the US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Grzywinski Pons Architects are the young guns, having recently completed their first major project, the Hotel on Rivington.
